The Barstow Trestle table comes standard with a 1 3/8″ planked table top with groove marks and rough cut sawmarks on some of the edges. This style has a functioning breadboard end cap that is held in place by screws hidden below the round dowel holes. The dowels are capped with a walnut plug. This allows the wood to expand and contract as moisture levels change in your home. Youtube has lots of videos on this process!
The boards run the “long way” on the table top and the grooves are “decorative” small channels that are routered into the wood where the glue line between boards is located. These marks can be left out for a “smooth top” finish. PLEASE NOTE THE BREADBOARD ENDS WILL STILL HAVE A GROOVE, as this is a functioning breadboard design (as noted above).
Available in the listed wood and stain sizes. This table is not available in Hickory, Hard Maple or Elm. Leaves are 16″ wide and they are breadboard design also. Only 1 leaf can self store inside the table due to the thickness. Please call with questions on this set. We recommend the Conner chair and Barstow bench with this table.
