American Made Dining Tables, made in the USA by Amish craftsman, custom hand built for you.
Our narrow solid wood dining tables are just a bit smaller than the standard 42" wide dining tables we offer. Narrow dining tables still offer the same solid 1" thick tops made from solid wood that Amishshowroom is known for. When choosing a narrow dining table make sure you account for extra wall space behind the chairs. We normally recommend a 36" gap from the edge of the narrow dining table to the wall. This will give you room to move an Amish dining chair into position behind the narrow solid wood dining table. Amishshowroom Offers many narrow dining tables in 30" wide, 32" wide tables and 43" wide tables. When you add a 38" wide dining table you are getting close to our standard 42" wide dining table size.
Our solid wood narrow dining tables are offered with 12" leaves and your choice of skirts or non skirts. The dining table skirts are the decorative piece of wood right below the 1" thick solid wood top. With our narrow leg table designs we do not offer self store leaves. As the narrow dining tables are opened to add more leaves, the legs of the table get farther apart. Using this large dining table technique of having the dining table legs on the corners, will not allow the leaves to self store. The leaves would actually fall out the bottom of the dining table when the non wood tables slides are pulled open.
Our Cordoba dining table offers a butterfly leaf system in the center. A butterfly leaf in a dining table is built into the center of the narrow dining table. You pull open the wooden tables slides and expose the butterfly leaf pins. The butterfly leaf is then folded in half and it self stores inside the narrow dining table base unit. By adding a butterfly leaf to your narrow dining table you can seat 2 more people at your table.
Each solid wood narrow dining table is made from American red oak, cherry or Quartersawn white oak hardwoods and finished with two coates of conversion varnish. We have added a link to our Amish furniture education pages to answer all your questions about conversion varnish. All of the narrow dining tables are hand built with the leaves installed during the building process. This allows each of the leaves to be sanded in place during construction. This sanding process gives an excellent high quality end product. Each leaf is numbered and has a specific fit in the solid wood top table.
Amishshowroom offers many leg table designs that fit today's modern solid wood dining table specifications. Modern Amish dining tables often have a sharp or square design with very clean lines. Most of the Modern dining tables are built from solid cherry hardwood. Some Amish dining table builders use hard maple hardwood, but they often just add a coat of conversion varnish to seal the wood and they skip the staining process.
Most of our narrow dining table designs are based around the shaker design of solid wood furniture. This shaker design shows a clean table leg style that often tapers from top to bottom. It is very easy to take a shaker style dining table leg and make it into a pub height shaker table. This process involves add 6 inches of height to the legs. The arts and crafts dining table designs are inspired by Stickley. Stickley was a famous arts and crafts dining table builder and many of the arts and crafts dining table designs are still popular 100 years later. Stickley often used quartersawn white oak hardwood for his narrow dining table designs. Quarter sawn white oak has a very low tendancy to warp, thus allowing a narrow dining table to be built very large. Quartersawn white oak also resists water very well and the arts and crafts movement has stood the test of time.
The last step in the building process is choosing a wood stain. Michaels cherry stain is one our most popular stain colors on quartersawn white oak. Michaels cherry stain is sprayed on and wiped off to give a stunning beauty.
